First of all I would like to introduce myself. My name is Priscila Mateini.
A long time ago, I decided to learn a new language. I was about 10 years old, when my mother enrolled me in a Language Institution. The years passed by and I had decided to study abroad to improve my english. When I came back, my fellings about learning English has been increased and I attended Letras (Portuguese\ English ) at UFF University in Brazil, in the same year I was approved at Michigan Proficiency Test, so I said to myself ” I want to be an English Teacher” right! No, not that time! I was selected as a trainner in a well-Known Newspaper in Brazil to Translate Ads and I said ” oh, yes I will Work for a newspaper what a Job!!! However it was a dream working with many famous editor, journalist and travel to many places all over the World, but for me something was missing. However I had done some seminars about language, I felt as a fish out of water! They were TEACHERS sharing experiences, approaches, Techniques, Methodologies and on… I was a TRANSLATER with my glossaries! But I never gave up about TEACHING! In 2007, my family had to move to Spain and in Barcelona I felt in love again – The Classroom – That time I was not working with translation, then I had my big chance to do a summer course at Pompeu Fabra University – that moment I was introduced to ELT world. To sum up: I came back to Brazil and started working as EFL Teacher in a public school. I have been teaching english for 5 years and every single day it sounds to me: My dream come true!
I appreciate this quotation from Paulo Freire ” The more radical the person is, the more fully he or she enters into reality so that, knowing it better, he or she can transform it.”
Have fun with some classroom’ stories!
